Homemade tomato puree – ‘A nip of health from the Family Farm Pavlić’

We chose this product in the “Lose Weight together” program because tomato puree, produced by the Family Farm Pavlić, is a product with controlled origins from the Croatian countryside. It is made in the traditional way, respecting the natural laws of the production process. Tomatoes are procedural and thermally processed at very low temperatures to preserve the fullness of flavour and all the nutritional properties which we need in our diet. The production process is extremely important for processing tomatoes because Lycopene has a much higher efficiency in the products than in fresh tomatoes, and with the application of heat, other carotenoids are released, such as beta-carotene. Lycopene has the highest antioxidant effect of all the carotenoids present in food, twice more powerful than beta-carotene and ten times stronger than alpha-tocopherol in neutralizing free radicals. Among other things, this product has a low energy value (only 31 kcal per 100 g). Given that it contains 5.9 g carbohydrates, 1.3 g protein, 0.2 g fat and 1.2% dietary fibber, it is ideal to be found on the menu of our candidates. In addition to the above, it increases the excretion of water from the body, has a good effect on the heart and blood circulation, regulates digestion and lowers blood pressure. It is rich in pectin, and many organic acids, which activate the digestive process and prevent the negative effects of undesirable bacteria.
